Common Myths about Lip Fillers

Lip Fillers

Lip fillers can help you get fuller and more voluptuous lips through a simple process. As with most procedures, there are several myths surrounding lip augmentation. Dermal fillers like collagen or ‘hyaluronic acid,’ which naturally occurs in our body, can be injected in your lips or around the mouth. Redwood Medi Spa & Wellness Centre points out some of the common confusions generally faced by users regarding fillers.

Initially, fat injections and implants were also used but there were several side effects to using them. Hyaluronic acid is the most recommended choice for lip fillers as it offers safer and long-lasting effects when compared to collagen. The gel in the filler boosts the shape, structure and volume of your lips. Certain Misconceptions Regarding Lip Fillers Some of us may be skeptical about cosmetic injectables. Here are the most common myths surrounding them: • There is nothing one can do after the fillers are injected and you don’t like the results. Fillers of different types are available for injections. Ply-1-lactic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite takes a year or two to break down. You cannot do anything only for this duration. Hyaluronic acid, if used, can be dissolved by an eraser enzyme (hyaluronidase) immediately if you don’t like the end results. You just have to wait for the swelling to reduce which goes away in a few days. • The process very painful Lidocaine is injected in small amounts along with most of the fillers, which numbs the tissue in the specific area. The procedure is very comfortable although you may feel a dull throbbing sensation in the area temporarily. Apply ice for five to ten minutes for immediate relief. • You will have to continue using fillers after you have used it once. This statement is completely false. Hyaluronic acid (HA) stimulates collagen production which thickens the dermis. When the HA gradually dissolves in the next six months to two years depending on the amount injected, it leaves a healthy and firm skin. • Fillers are not for young people. Fillers are used by older people to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines, but it can be used by people of all ages. • Fillers produce an unnatural look. Our experienced dermatologists use proper techniques and make sure to understand your existing medical conditions thoroughly before proceeding with the injections. Their focus is on achieving a natural look for your lips. • Lip injections are only taken by people with thin lips. Though adding volume is a common request, you can use it for multiple purposes. Undefined Cupid’s bows, asymmetrical or disproportionate lips, turned down corners, and dry or cracked lips can all be rectified with injections. • If the smile lines are filled, my lips may look weird. Our professionals prefer not injecting too much filler in the parentheses lines around your mouth. Injecting too much product may give you an animated puffed-up face. The better way to address smile lines is by lifting the skin folds which fall forward by injecting fillers in your cheeks. • You will need frequent touch-ups. Touch-ups are important to maintain your look but not very frequently. You may need touching- up after every four-six months. For smile lines, you may need to visit our clinic every six months and every year for your cheekbone area. If you decide to discontinue, you can do so without worries. The existing fillers are dissolved by the body, and your face will return back to the way it was before. • It is not recommended for a rounder face. You can target specific areas of your face for injecting fillers to give a narrower look to a round face or to give a smoother effect to a long face. It will just enhance your natural features and give you a chiseled look without any makeup. Contact us for a wide range of beauty and wellness services or products.
